power trippers

had a cop with a major inferiority complex stop me today... he was barely as tall as my car and had an obvious chip on his shoulder... after asking for my license registration and insurance from my back window, the guy would not come to the window... he stood at my back door and had his hand on his gun the whole time speaking with all sorts of attitude... i turned to look at him so i could hear him and he unbuckled his gun and yelled face forward... i explained i can't hear him because i have diminished hearing in my left ear and he said "are you not cooperating?"... i sat back and remained silent... all this was in the middle lane of a three lane road and since he was standing next to my car, he was blocking the left lane too at morning rush hour... dozens of cars were backed up and i finally said officer please call for another officer because i feel unsafe and i will call 911 if you continue to stand in a threatening stance... he snatched my paperwork out of my hand, dropping it on the ground and as if i had done something threatening, he drew his gun and almost fell down as he bent to pick up my license... i pushed dial on my steering wheel and said 911 and he ran back to his car... i almost reported "officer down" but did not want to spend the day in the middle of a stupid investigation as i was on my way to work...

when he came back he still wouldn't come to the window and said i didn't stop at a stop sign until i was in the intersection... he lied because i stopped before the stop sign, before he could see me because he was hiding behind a building were he could not see the stop sign... and even though he stated himself that i stopped, he wrote me a ticket for "running a stop sign"... not enough, he wrote me another ticket for "not displaying my registration" because i could not find my paper registration yet the license plate displayed my registration sticker which is more than enough for any cop who was not looking to provoke a confrontation... he handed me the two tickets without the usual explanation and i asked for his badge number... he walked away and almost hit my car as he sped away into traffic and dozens of cars behind him started hinking and several almost hit each other trying to get going faster than anybody else... when i pay the tickets i will be including a letter to the court detailing the interaction, the threatening posture, the unsafe traffic situation, the contradictory reasons for giving two tickets, and filing a formal complaint against the cop... i doubt anything will come of it, but it'll satisfy my sense of justice and maybe his supervisor will keep the guy from killing someone one day...

some people simply should not be cops...

brighthouse endless sucking

every now and then i just need to vent so if you've read one of the dozen or so similar vents beforee this, this will be even more abstract and possibly meaningless so look back for more detailed meaningless complaints if you like... simply, more and more often recently the brighthouse connection sucks... complete breakdowns happen between 1 and 2am a lot when there should be the least traffic, so whatever brighthouse is doing really sucks... could it be overheating?... could it be a hack or some malware?... kaspersky and spybot say no... brighthouse sucks, that's the bottom line... and what that leads to is running scans with kaspersy which slows down the computer so i am forced (oh, the agony) to sit here tying into a notepad fro endless hours while the kaspersky does it's thing scanning through the millions of files on this laptop... but a new one and re-image this one with windows 10?... then i'd complain about windows 10... but it is one good idea... buying a mac might be too but i refuse to believe macs are so much better simply because life does not work that way and apple has long since been revealed as not what it was made out to be... at least microsoft didn't pretend to be so much better and loftier and morrally superior to the bumbling, fumbling demon microsoft (or so most, including apple, portray it to be)...

and of course, windows updates... is it a sign of terrible work that updates are needed a couple of times a week or is it a sign of a failed culture that has so many cyber criminals that a security update is needed for windows defender and kaspersky and spybot daily?... rhetorica, obviously, it's both...

but brighthouse still sucks most...

today's complaint is about ATT free webmail which is operated by Yahoo Mail for ATT and they obviously do not get along well which is typical of the years i've spent with ATT because ATT does not communicate well within the different services within it's own company and never has... i don't recall ever logging into the website without jumping through hoops unless i do it within a few days or so of logging in... the site does not remember my user name or phone number when i try to log in... yes, my phone company website does not recognize my phone number, pathetic service, aye?... and then there is email that i've had with ATT for more than 15 years and it is so challenging to access i seldom check it which means i abandoned many sites and services where i signed up with ATT emails... Yahoo Groups, for instance... once i managed dozens or more... but between SPAM from Yahoo and lack of access due to Yahoo and ATT miscommunications throughout the years, those groups are abandoned... I don't communicate via email for my Yahoo fantasy teams and have reduced those to one which is an annual invite from a friend... over the years i'd had hundred of yahoo sports fantasy teams in a variety of sports...

the hoops ATT and Yahoo make me jump through to do anything on either site just leaves me wanting another service... it's almost as stupid as blogger, which is owned by google, not working with chrome, google's browser...

royce vs disney

the story of david and goliath is just one example of the supposedly helpless underdog battling the overwhelmingly powerful bully and i have a friend who fits the little guy in a legal battle against a huge corporation... royce and disney is my own up-close-and-personal david and goliath story and so far, goliath has been winning... the typical tactics, change of venue, delays approved by judges who are either corrupt or convinced by legalese that they should not hear the case but rather pass it on to other courts in other states... royce has been through the court system in florida, new york, and california, a few years in each state, and in each instance there was apparently no actual hearing of evidence, just motions to stay and delays and change of venue motions... and then there are the lawyers... apparently several have fought the case for royce only to mysteriously stop taking royce's phone calls after countersuits by disney were threatened or filed...

some years ago, royce signed a paper under durress that supposedly absolved disney of wrong doing but royce found evidence of fraud that allowed him to file against the signing of the paper and reopen the case... more years, more changes of venues, and finally a judge known to be very corporate friendly somehow closed the case... i am not sure if it was dismissed, but four days later disney filed a countersuit that the same judge accepted and the past few weeks disney has been threatening to take royce's home and everything he owns if he does not sign a document they refuse to present to royce's current lawyer unless royce pays legal fees... logic asks how can someone agree or not agree to sign something they cannot see... sounds fishy, but then, the years of legal spinning royce has endured seems fishier still... and suddenly, his lawyer is scaring the crap out of him insisting he pay and sign or risk losing everything...

my poor friend is frantic to the poinr of sounding irrationally upset and angry and helpless which is probably exactly what disney wants because such franticness in court would destroy any credibility royce might have... i advised him to get another attorney and he said no one will take his case... i advised him to go to legal aid because, as a defendant, he has the right to an attorney... i also advised him to focus on his right to be silent because ranting will not help him in court or anywhere... i listened to him for almost two hours... i don't know if i help him calm enough, i can only hope...

disney corp is known for stealing ideas and squashing those who might suggest they didn't, all big corporations do it... it is just sad to be friends with one of the little guys...
