goldmach sachs sucks... they get this dubious mention because goldman sachs just tried to take over my computer... and slate helped them... i clicked on a video on the slate site and a 2 minute 49 second video advertising goldman sachs opened four times in different windows, one full screen blocking my start menu and everything else on my screen - when i click just once... and worse, when i close one, the full screen was hidden behind the browser and i only noticed because the start menu bar was black... i expect this from a company that worships money, but trust for slate has gone down considerably...

we live in a very sad culture...

NFL Fail

the nfl really sucks this year mostly due to the inexperienced officials losing control of games and making very bad calls that effect the momentum and the outcome of games... no amount of spin is going to convince me that this season's first two weeks would have had different outcomes of some games if the regular refs were out there...

it is apparent now that the nfl commissioner and bosses were lying over the last few years when they stated they were imposing fines and changing rules to protect players... they obviously do not care about players... say it again - the decision to let players play under these poorly officiated out of control conditions is proof the bosses do not care about player safety...

the commissioner is certainly a gambler... gambling fans will watch crap and gambling nobody will get hurt enough to permanently scar nfl football... i hope a superstar's career is not ended because the nfl is allowing this fiasco to continue because that would be a permanent scar and legacy for this current commissioner...

news and weather

i am beginning to feel enough dislike (i really hate the word hate ya know) the news and weather media in the usa... it is madness and so very unhealthy, which is why i stay away from watching or reading it quite often... the fear-driven culture we live in has produced a society of adrenaline junkies afraid of everything and worse, unable to think for themselves... a clear sign of a failing culture...

what brings this meaningless complaint out today is the tropical storm isaac reports that have been pounding into millions of people's heads over the past week, especially the last few days as the news people are begging for the national weather service to call this storm a hurricane (in fact, the weather people have mistakenly called it a hurricane more than a few times, on the weather channel no less, where they are supposed to know what they are doing - and don't they?... they know scaring people gets more people to watch and rating and selling products is their first priority, not protecting people or providing fair and accurate reporting of the news... journalism is such a dead profession these days in the usa)...

and after hours of telling us that the 11am national weather service report should upgrade the storm to a hurricane (note, that's an upgrade - sick) again and again and the disappointment was obvious in the reporters voices and words, even questioning the national weather service making statements like "it would have been better if they upgraded to a hurricane"...

how shameful greed is so acceptable...

how irresponsible fear-mongering is so acceptable...

everybody be afraid, stop thinking, just be afraid and above all else - keep watching the news because we have very important commercial messages you need to see between all the fear-mongering reports we repeat over and over...

how ignorant will this culture get before it collapses?...

tv ads, tv pop ups, the bottom third, ad crawlers, bottom screen ads, digital tv, samsung's mistake, whatever, they suck... first, they destroy the stories they interrupt, creative suicide for anyone producing shows for television... then, annoying interruptions do not inspire me to watch the show interrupting the show i want to watch... in fact, the show i pay to watch... i pay to go to the theatre, i would resent a scrolling banner on the scenery advertising anything - it is not part of the show i paid to see... i pay for a ticket to watch a movie in a theatre without commercial interruption... and i pay for cable television... it is reasonable that the free tv networks force advertising down our throats to pay for their shows, but when i pay for a service i do not want advertising...

i mean, why watch regular tv anymore, or even cable... they take commercialism too far, so we find other ways to entertain ourselves... foolish greed has brought so many great nations down, when will they ever learn...

simply, watching movies on tv is a waste of time for me... there is no hollywood magic, no getting into a story... there is a random and even sometimes constant distraction of a network logo or upcoming show advertisement distracting from the movie... sometimes it is an animated pop up totally destroying any mood or ambiance the actors and director and movie crew were trying to create... it's gotten ridiculous... and just one more reason tv falls further and further into the background...

okc, that is... too many times the prima donnas on miami get away with fouls that effect the score and it is a shame that the favoritism and bias toward superstars is so blatant... with two points down and 12 seconds to go labron james hacks kevin durant so obviously a blind person would have heard it and called the foul, but three refs miss it and the shot does not go in and instead of shooting two foul shots with a chance to tie at home, the game is over and miami is given a gift...

it doesn't matter that miami appeared to dominate the game, that okc was shooting poorly and miami was on fire and had huge leads all game... there were 12 seconds left and it was a 2 point game and one player clearly fouled another player who was going to tie the game... so the serious is still 1-0 in my book with the refs taking one game... the game gets cheaper and more meaningless with every critical last 30 second blown call... and i don't want to hear how challenging it is to be a ref, hire more if three are not enough to get the calls right - with the price of tickets and the millions in tv revenue, they can surely afford enough officials to get the calls right, especially at the end of close games... so is it a deliberate attempt to influence who wins by the nba front office or are the refs corrupt or just incompetent?... either way, it is irresponsible to let bad calls decide championship games...

yeah, i know this is meaningless compared to the stupidity of the injustice and oppressive society explored in the previous entry, but still, these are meaningless complaints after all...

the game is tied 105-105 and rondo drives for a lay-up... a flagrant foul, a hard blow to the head knocking his head back hard, knocking him to the ground, slow to get up... no call... no call giving miami a fast break and a two point lead... how do you miss such an obvious foul under the basket?... you don't, not if you are good at your job,,, you don't, not unless you are are incompetent - or you have an agenda...

one minute left... so a four point swing for miami with less than 90 seconds and the next series, a clear offensive foul, a kick with the foot to knock the defensive player back, but it's miami so it is allowed and worse, the foul is called on boston... no foul call against miami on a blow to the head which by rule is flagrant, no foul call against miami on an obvious offensive kick, foul called against boston to a slap to the arm after getting kicked out of the way... five point lead under a minute...

seven fouls for boston, zero fouls for miami in the first 7 minutes of the game... fifteen more fouls against boston than against miami... similar to game one... it's no coincidence... a key star for boston fouls out again just like the first game... it's no coincidence... it is such a sad shame that the refs dominate the play leaning to one side so much...

all game the refs made miami calls giving miami a lopsided advantage in foul shots and still, game tied in overtime... and then, one minute left, tie game, and a blown flagrant foul call gives miami a bogus lead... you can't beat a team with the refs on their side and that was clear tonight...

ridiculous win for the refs and miami... they needed the refs just to get the game tied and sent to overtime... no team can win a close game when the refs are so clearly biased to pne side... anyone who respects this miami win did not watch the game, especially not the last 90 seconds when the refs took over and game the game to miami...

it's professional sports... the refs calls in the last two minutes should not be one of the subjects discussed by objective sportscasters in the post game shows... the refs calls should not be a topic of discussion after the game two games in a row... boston is getting a raw deal... two ridiculous technical fouls in the first game had sports commentators raging and wondering if the refs have a specific agenda... are the refs getting told what to do by the nba management?... so it seems to the professionals watching, so it seems to this sports fan...

but the fact is, it would be very bad for business for the nba for the spoiled and arrogant golden boys of miami to not make it to the finals... due to their own immaturity and boasts, they'd be a laughing stock if they don't win a championship soon... so they can get away with much more... the refs bias may be ignored after the obvious immediate commentary points it out... but for anyone really watching, really paying attention, really looking for sportmanship, it cheapens the game of basketball...

that is groupon, a good idea but a website and company that is not to be trusted because they secretly install something on your computer that creates links on your web pages that create pop-ups advertising the groupons... very not right... and the virus software and windows software and all the protections on this new computer didn't stop it... very sneaky...

it took me a while to figure out why my web pages, even my personal web pages, were altered... hopefully it is not viable from other computers because using my personal web pages to advertise their site would be very unethical... and should be illegal...

if you check out their site, which is a good idea, make sure you email their support people first to find out how not to become a shill for their business without knowing...

i drive a twelve year old car, a chevy cavelier... it needs a tune up, a new clutch, new tires, and other work... and it gets better gas than most of the new cars being sold as 2011 or 2012 cars... ridiculous... the car manufacturers are so very irresponsible and government is worse for not forcing the manufacvturers to improve gas mileage... it can be done... it is being done on a very few cars sold at higher prices because they are scarce because the manufacturers will not mass produce the technology that privides 50mpg and better...

let's not even get started on the lack of effort to produce alternative fuel cars... the government allows ecologically criminal and economically unethical practices and all but the very consumers suffer...

i am part of the problem... i could choose to live in a place where i do not need a car, but i choose to live in a car-dependant suburb... my choices in life have not provided the income to buy a nissan leaf or even a toyota prius, so i am hunting for a car within my budget which leaves me with choices that are not as economical as the twelve year old car i drive... adding to the challenge is the lack of availability of economy cars, at least in this area... i visited six large dealers today and found less than ten economy cars, a few dealers had none, new or used...

so philosophically, scientifically, ecologically, ethically, and practically the auto industry in this country is a clear sign of the corruption, confusion, and suicidal thinking that goes into the decision making in this modern world... we, as a species, do not do what we can do to improve our chances of survival... natural selection will eliminate us from the life cycle of the planet unless we wise up and start making decisions and taking actions that will improve our chances for survival on this planet... simple as that...

government is condemned for over-regulating industry when they do anything before a disaster and then condemned for not cleaning up the mess industry makes after a disaster... responsibility is on the businessmen, their greed did this - and you and me - our dependency on luxuries, oil, and our lifestyles did this... we demand more oil, more energy, more consumer goods, and we don't want to see the costs to the planet nor the risks to ourselves in our blind attempt to have it all...

many people still do not want to see, as the flagging of videos on youtube demonstrates... but the only thing keeping our heads in the sand will do is get us covered in oil, or kicked in our up-in-the-air butts... great nations fall when the people stop caring enough to take responsibility and do the right thing... that's history, and we are living it... and we can only hope enough of us wake up in time to realize what we need to do to save ourselves...

yeah, we all know the story... or do we?... did you know about hurricane pam?... pam that did the very same thing to new orleans in 2004 that hurricane katrina did in 2005... you can watch the video and learn a bit about hurricane pam... one year before hurricane katrina devastated, hurricane pam tore the city apart and flooded new orleans almost exactly as katrina did, in a computer simulation...

ATT: too big for it's britches

there are so many different departments, in fact, different companies all under the ATT umbrella all offering different services that the management has lost control and costumer service has fallen apart at ATT...

over the years i've had accounts swallowed up and terminated by ATT and ATT/Yahoo simply because they were duplicate accounts or because ATT could not integrate my accounts properly... I no longer use Yahoo for any services due to their mishandling my accounts creating a situation that sends hundreds of messages a day to my ATT accounts and no one at ATT or Yahoo are able to stop it because the emails are coming from groups I created at a service called FindMail in the 90s... FindMail was bought out by eGroups which was bought out by Yahoo which merged with ATT somehow and when they merged, i lost access to all my Yahoo accounts, including all the email groups that are sending emails... I used to play fantasy sports at Yahoo as well and no longer do for the same reason, I cannot access my account and so i've ignored a half dozen fantasy sport requests from friends this spring...

but the SPAM Yahoo sends through my ATT email is the least of my issues as I simply auto-delete it all... the people in the groups probably long since have written me off as a flake group owner who does not respond to their concerns or complaints... my primary concern is that ATT suspended my web pages so i can not access pages i've had on the web for more than 10 years... trusted for safe-keeping as personal web pages to ATT... do not trust any web service that encourages you to store anything on their services, keep your stuff on your computer and back up drives...

they said i had until march 31 to save my pages, but tonight i find them suspended... and of course support is not available this late...

the last time i called support, just four days ago (when my web pages were still working), it took them eight hours and dozens of transfers to get me to the right department to give me the new POP3 and SMTP addresses... eight hours of jumping through phone hoops for a two minute fix...

that was because nobody knew who was doing what in the various companies that is now all under the ATT umbrella and accessed through a nightmarish automated phone tree that has no clue where to route customers calling in... ATT has simply gotten too big to manage good customer service... so typical of corporate USA and why the country is going down the tubes fast... just check and you'll find statistics like 17 countries have better high school graduation results than the USA...

anyway, though i've explained my issues to dozens of ATT CSRs and a few ATT managers, this is the epitome of meaningless complaint as they are too disconnected, disorganized, and way too big to ever hear it...

or perhaps the child will lead us concept as the carrot is that the same nubile fifteen year old innocent dancing seductively with a boy without him or anyone seeing her (because she's trapped in a robot and nobody knows, of course) actually has some secret answer that even she doesn't know quite yet... could it be the secret to immortality as she has figured out a way to put human's mind and personality (and don't forget spirit and soul) into a robot?... oooo, back to the whole moral dilemma thing again, aye?)...

or is the attraction the oldest moral dilemma of all (in modern recorded history, that is, i mean, since the jewish bible started), the old ways against the new ways as a very jewish appearing race is made out to be poor hard working hard core eye-for-an-eye religiously superstitious, secretive, and organized-crime powerful while the white-bread waspy-looking actual rich power brokers of the culture are clueless as to their money-changing corruptions and lead of moral fiber as they take technology into a virtual world where anything goes because there is no responsibility because ot the presumptious that nothing is real and nobody really gets hurt and nobody really dies…

252 new viruses before the top-of-the-line virus protection company can even get their latest update to their customers… 252 new viruses trying to steal or destroy something of yours… created by people… an average of 17,000 new viral threats each day created by humans… every five minutes the human virus spawns another cyber virus…

grilled breakfast sandwiches, a glimpse of the end of the road for toyota, internet porn, football player proselytizers, fried dead cow patties on buns, preachers arrested for soliciting prostitutes, curdled cow fat on baked bread, 12 year old girls handcuffed and carted out of school for doodling, do unto others as you want them to do, sugar and fat and flour baked with chocolate, excitement over finding video of the challenger exploding, fear the loving god, fried anything, hypocrisy and mental illness everything, and you were distracted by the accident you saw on the way to church… which gets the biggest rise out of you... and why...

what a waste of the potential of the human brain…

humans believe in can’ts and weakness and hate and above all else, fear more than anything else, so they consume delusional explanations and irrational hypocrisy because everybody else does and communal delusions present a placebo to quell the fears…

what a waste of the potential of human life…

meanwhile, if you can get past the depression that such realization can bring, you just might find the amusements available to the awakened mind in this experience of life in this universe…

staring up at the stars each night, do you realize that many of them are not really there because they went supernova (blew up) millions or even billions of years ago?... all you see are the light, like messages in bottles, that was sent out in all directions before humans ever walked on this planet, in some cases, before this planet was even here…

and if that concept does not amuse you, how about the fascination with female breasts?... is it some infantile imprinting that draws most human males to sexual arousal when presented with huge mammary glands, the bigger the better, and yet, most of the same human males are repulsed by fat on most any other part of the female body (though buttocks fat seems to draw an audience)… belly fat, however or neck fat or leg fat, now that is considered unattractive…

but the fat puzzle is not nearly as puzzling (or titillating, perhaps) as the fascination with innocence, virgins, young flesh just a few years past puberty or closer, even… just look at the popular arts, film, tv, music, and if you pretend you don’t see the sexualization of children that sells so well, you may be among the majority of hypocrites condemning in public what you crave and even do in private…

and then there is the phenomenon of legalized poisons, big business and popular pastimes, while condemning and imprisoning and fighting a war on other poisons, some of which are a lot less harmful than your legal poisons… how much money, time, energy, and human life is spent on buying and using the legal poisons and still more money, time, energy, and human life spent on fighting and jailing those who choose the illegal poisons… you need to be irrational and delusional to make sense of it…

all the while, children starve all over the world… earth’s resources and human energy is wasted while children die of starvation and greed and power trips all over the world… from the wealth in the land of the free where children suffer as pawns in divorce, as playthings for adults who want to control anything they can or for priests and parents who condemn their own sexuality while failing to repress their sexual attraction to their children… to the poverty of countries oppressed and condemned by the wealthy nations to remain ignorant and behind the times because we can’t have too many countries equally powerful, especially when they don’t believe in the same delusions and ways of perceiving life and the universe and the unknown that we buy into…

few want to see that the the rich choose to let the poor starve, physically and mentally, while pushing spirituality on them as the answer to all the problems the rich create and ignore… the rich do not want to see it because they do not want to share or lose what they have… the poor don’t want to see it because who wants to face their own powerlessness and abuse…

what a study of humanity shows is that as long as there is the slightest illusion of control, of choice (and what is our cheap consumer culture if not a feast of choice), then the poor are placated and the imbalanced delusions that facilitate oppression can continue… because the fear of loss of control is more powerful than the unpleasantness and cruelty of poverty and illness and suffering of any kind…

if this is pessimistic, prove me wrong...

social status

so i'm flipping through tv stations and find there is a movement in florida to create county level council on the social status of black men and boys meeting in the office of the attorney general in orlando, florida... have we made any real mind-set or perspective progress since the civil war in the south?...

a group who's mission is to look for and point fingers, look for weaknesses, and shout unfair for black men and boys?... is this legitimate affirmative action (affirm is a positive term, right?) or is it a veiled way of castrating men and boys in and of itself?... is the perspective to pity and organize people to help black men and boys because they can't effectively take care of themselves?...

people are so tied up in social status, so in love with the victim mindset, so kind to similarities and opportunities to bridges gaps and come together, so comfortable with segregation and pity parties and pointing fingers... so what we've got is a group of mostly very overweight people trying to find money (and justification to get the money) from government (taxes) to get some excitement going to organize local groups with a purpose of studying the social status of black men and boys...

the chairperson of this council is the Director, Office of Supplier Diversity, Department of management Services... is this bureacracy gone made or a real need seeking a real solution for a real problem?... perhaps the underlying source of the concerns is the very attitude that black men and boys need local government groups to promote their social status, inherently setting black men and boys apart as inferior and "needing help" based solely on race and gender...

not racism?...

i wish people would stop judging people based soley on race or gender... but that is the culture we live in and the people in power support it because it keeps the majority of people in divided social groups feeling needy with a hand out for help instead of empowered and united as human beings...

sigh...
