as in microsoft vista so totally sucks and fails it is not funny... yes, #VistaFail is added to the growing list of #Fail hashtags and labels and no, it is nothing new, it is just getting worse and worse and there is no logical reason for software to deteriorate and consume more time and memory when nothing changes on a computer... so i guess i will simply get used to restarting every day and giving up 15 minutes or more daily to microsoft... if the software was free that would be barely reasonable...

cable and internet search
the box once again is acting up, flicking the picture and sound on and off and preventing the signal from reaching the tv... shutting it off a few times and waiting did not help this time... a manual reboot is next... and since the brighthouse service will not work and not allow me to watch tv, it is time to invest some time in research for better service - so let's see what else is available at my address...
comcast... $40 cable and $30 internet from road runner (same company brighthouse uses)... the $30 internet is without taxes and without internet speed boosts... and is a time-limited offer, 6 months and then it goes to $50... a package for $80 sounds very similar to what i am currently getting from brighthouse for at least $20 more, so there is a draw for comcast... the site does not make comparison shopping easy and does not offer any comparison to brighthouse... a prime example can be found here on this page where they have the starter tv and the internet package for $30 each and then the combo of those two services for $70... simple math suggests this company has some serious math problems (and i should trust their tech knowledge?)...
even more unfortunately, it looks like a 2 year commitment is required, which is a big turn off for me as i might find major flaws in the service in the first few months and be stuck for two years... the lack of required commitments still keeps brighthouse ahead in spite of the horrible service lately...
still, saving $20-$30 a month is a major draw so i will explore comcast further... reviews show just as many complaints about comcast as there are for brighthouse, so the switch would have to be based on the details of costs, channels, internet speed, and the roll of the dice that the service may be a bit better... sometimes, after continuous dissatisfaction, any change is better than continued poor service... ultimately, the comcast experience may be better or worse than the brighthouse experience, but i will not know unless i try it...
centurylink (orlando)... sounds similar in cost, though i have not explored the details of the services and packages offered yet...
cleartv offers a bundle of tv and internet for $65, almost half the price i currently pay per month plus one month free, so it's worth a look as i continue searching... the page, however, gives the feel of a scam (not suggesting it is, it just lacks depth and detailed information and requests contact info immediately, before providing any shopping experience)... also appears to be a 4G at best internet, much slower than high-speed cable...
att u-verse presented challenging to find in this internet search and appears to require $91 to get HDTV, which is unacceptable pricing... also, the complicated internet presence presents a lot of scam-like "authorized representatives" so finding the source provider is not easy... at&t also requires a log-in to shop "build-your own" bundles on their site, definitely marketing that borders on the spam sites...
so after jumping through a few hoops i found that max internet is $63 and 300 channels is $87 and after rebates or whatever promo offers, it's $115 a month including a dvr and an additional $100 rebate for signing up for a year... still, i do not believe this includes HDTV, so not acceptable... bundling wireless service reduces the monthly bill to $110... knowing att, there is some hoop-jumping involved, as their complicated website showed...
and ah, i believe (again, the site is not simple to navigate) i found HD and it is an extra $10 a month, so $120 now... this plan includes a movie package for $20... unfortunately, it does not appear possible to remove the movie package and still get HDTV as HDTV is not available with lower priced packages... the $100 rebate brings the monthly cost down about for the initial year, so $112 a month, about the same as the current brighthouse we pay without the two dvrs and more channels...
the catch may be that after the 12 month required contract, the $46 per month discount ends and the monthly cost is $166, are they nuts?... i'd have to speak with them before ordering, but the $112 for more channels, 2 dvr boxes (one wireless), and more sounds appealing...
directv... $40 cable for equivalent station lineup to what i have now and a dvr... regular price $70... requires a 2 year contract and goes up to $50 the second year... while the website makes comparing packages simpler than the cable providers sites, the discounts appear complicated as they are rebates requiring online submission and the risk of not getting the rebates if you do not do it correctly, typical pain-in-the-ass marketing technique)... also, auto-payment is required... again, road runner is the separate company that is bundled for high-speed internet access... the free nfl package makes directv a very serious draw in spite of the hoop-jumping required, however the time-sensitive rebate hoops make it a fourth choice for now behind the two cable providers bh and cc and att...
without the hoop-jumping, directv sounds pretty good... but the hoop-jumping suggest to me that dealing with this company will not be a simple or happy consumer experience...

going to their bundles page i see an offer for $110 that includes phone... and $100 for the service i currently get (and why do i pay more for this, probably because i am not a new subscriber which adds to the price appeal of comcast and directv)... though the directv page makes it much easier to find prices, channel lineup details, and compare packages, the simplicity of no contract and no rebates makes this the simplest and most attractive front-end package i've found so far, yet the add-on packs can become confusing and the price difference combined with the actual experience of the poor quality of service brighthouse provides still leaves me a very dissatisfied customer looking for another provider...
it is interesting to note that brighthouse does not show up on the first search page doing a google search for "tv and internet costs orlando florida"... no charge for the marketing information, brighthouse...

go figure
i fall in love again and she disappears... i went back to the website called orlandofriends by fluke and found i had not logged in since 2003 or some ancient time and so i logged in and saw messages from 2007 and 2008 and 2009 and i responded and the next day those same messages were from that next day, interesting little script that, changing the date as if i didn't notice the messages the first time... and then, one of the people inspires rhymes and reasons and falling in love and then... poof (yeah, they are all the same link, it's a meaningless complaint, after all)... alas, she may never know or if she did get my message, she may never find me now... true love shattered by the internet, alas...

sometimes it's personal
dozens of little complaints missed their chance to have their fifteen minutes of vent here over the past year simply cuz i have not had the time and don't keep track and let things go in the blink of an eye and don't take complaints seriously anyway, just like to vent the frustration rather than distract, when there is time... so today i have a vent about personal writing...
not so much personal life, cuz i have a roommate who takes care of me when i need help (and vice versa) and people around i can count on if i need something and i also have lots of social friends for sports and games and lots of activities, though a few (music, movies, shows, photography, all the expensive fun) i only get to do if i pay for whomever i go with), the missing piece is that i do not have anyone close personal and intimate to really show interest in me (like a best friend relationship or a relationship), but still and all, personal life is as busy as i want it to be...
here on the internet, however, in the written gardens, in the many blogs i update regularly, even on the social networks where i have many people on my friends list, there is a void, little or no actual interaction, no one has the time or interest to read and share the words...
there's a grumble, cuz i love sharing words... not just cuz i love attention and recognition and praise and even some critique (or there's something more than just critique cuz critique alone has suspect meaning for me, i mean, why critique if you don't care to find something positive to say as well... i am much more interested in focusing on the positive), but also cuz i love literary interaction, writing letters and sharing in words, especially when someone actually cares to read, understand, and share the meanings in the words...
nobody really wants to know me anymore...

ucf football
yes, ucf football inspires this latest meaningless complaint (and i really wish they wouldn't but i've just gotta let it out after the second straight give-away nobody-really-wants-to-win sloppy unintelligent performance)...
define losers... players who do not show enough effort to win... players who stand around watching the other team out-hustle them... players who give up... i watch a few losers in the secondary tonight... it is one thing to simply not have the skills... the receivers showed that they did not have the speed to outrun the other team's secondary by getting catch a few times... the quarterback showed he did not have the skill to lead a wide open receiver by under-throwing two easy touchdown passes so the receivers were catch by the defense... the defensive line showed they were not strong enough to stop an offensive line and runner who wanted it more... the defensive end and the special teams showed they do not know how to stay in their lanes and prevent a runner from turning the corner... all those things are skills you either have or develop or do not have or develop... but giving up, stop hustling and hitting, that makes a loser...
so the ucf football follies gave away a game they should have won for the second week in a row showing they are not championship material and are far from ready to play with the big boys... they made it easy for a team that is not really that good to win, again... so while they were expected to walk through their conference and still might, they are not a top twenty five contender by a long shot... could not handle the spotlight, perhaps... or simply just didn't want it enough... i watched the defense give up, especially the secondary who appeared to not want to hit anybody and watched runners come at them instead of rushing up and helping the defensive line and linebackers... definitely not the defensive team i heard about... and the offence, what can we say... afraid?... sloppy for sure... the most fundamental mistakes that you see really poor middle school teams make... too much ego, not enough teamwork, not enough football sense... coaching?... gotta be part of it, but just as much it is lack of football intelligence cuz some of the mistakes are the most basic football skills (like don't try to over-the-shoulder catch a bouncing ball punt inside your ten yard line or don't try to dance your way through five defenders with the ball on your hip and don't waste the clock, for three)... really bad clock management is coaching... so whatever, i have a lot of trouble getting behind a team and coaching like i watched tonight... lack of effort, lack of football intelligence, lack of any real desire to win... sad, cuz i'd like to feel a lot better about the home team...
get it together coach, you are accountable... i'll be rooting for you next week...

overworked, underpaid, still overfed
the most meaningless complaint of all may be this one, that i work too much and am not appreciated nearly enough in the most tangible way, though the appreciation of respect and non-material thanks has improved dramatically in this year (am i finally getting through to them?... well, all but one and a half i think)... and yet, the poverty line come closer every year and still, the body bloats a bit more when saving on the foods would be wise for body, mind, and wallet...
see?... i don't even have my heart in this complaint...

wish people
i wish people were more honest, open, reliable, believable, and real... i wish people kept their word, followed through on promises, and actualized the ideals of loyalty, integrity, devotion, faith, and trust seriously in the real world, with each other, and not just in a delusional bond with imaginary beings... i wish people understood the power of hope, the strength of being true to self and one's own ideals... i wish people knew the power of wishes, especially when we can make wishes come true...

you think you've got a complaint?
i almost came here to complain about the office, but then, that would be ignorant (bullsugar, even) as i've only seen one episode and that was in the background anyway, but tv has been extremely disappointing and people even moreso in so many ways (thank goodness for a few crazy friends, aye?), but all the nonsense of hysterical ridiculousness aside, this is a complaint...

caprica
the saddest thing about caprica might be that they are eventually going to glorify the judeo-christian-muslin god after introducing the concept of a monotheistic god with sarcastic scorn in phrases like ”a moral dictator called god” blamed for leading kids to terrorist acts and instead of seeing the truth in the words, people will praise the glorification of that very moral dictator concept that has been the root cause of more death and destruction in this world than any other human-made concept in the history of human-kind…
or is the attraction to the show the titillating concept of a seductively pliable fifteen year old girl touched innocently (and often) because she is in a robot body and nobody knows she is really in there as they admire her chest and tinker with her crotch… while in a simultateous scene another teenage girl is repairing a motorbike while semi-flirting with a adult-looking teenage boy who’s job it was to fix that bike and the engine goes vroom vroom as they innocently touch hands and smile…
or perhaps the child will lead us concept as the carrot is that the same nubile fifteen year old innocent dancing seductively with a boy without him or anyone seeing her (because she's trapped in a robot and nobody knows, of course) actually has some secret answer that even she doesn't know quite yet... could it be the secret to immortality as she has figured out a way to put human's mind and personality (and don't forget spirit and soul) into a robot?... oooo, back to the whole moral dilemma thing again, aye?)...
or is the attraction the oldest moral dilemma of all (in modern recorded history, that is, i mean, since the jewish bible started), the old ways against the new ways as a very jewish appearing race is made out to be poor hard working hard core eye-for-an-eye religiously superstitious, secretive, and organized-crime powerful while the white-bread waspy-looking actual rich power brokers of the culture are clueless as to their money-changing corruptions and lead of moral fiber as they take technology into a virtual world where anything goes because there is no responsibility because ot the presumptious that nothing is real and nobody really gets hurt and nobody really dies…
but did they really have to made the eastern-indian looking kid the innocent misguided mad bomber?... and it’s ok, right, because he believed in the one-god concept… and do they have to play on the stereotype of the outrageously emotionally driven thoughtless acts of bereaving mothers only to make those same mothers some sort of heroes by convoluting their actions and slithering version of love into ridiculously unrealistic gestures of generosity that somehow make their stupidity and rash actions ok?...
I wonder how long I’ll want to know how the story turns out before I get too bored or simply too repulsed by the ignorance underlying the messages behind the story… and laughing, naturally, I wonder how many of you follow anything i've said here...
I suppose I need to know more about battlestar gallactica now, though the same sour taste that I could not pinpoint turned me off to that story after watching it for a little while… and suddenly i have this powerfully giggling errily puzzling secretly smiling deja-vu feeling... irony?...

yeah, smirk and giggle and narf as I use libido to keep my own attention while mocking and perhaps even condescending to those who do, or something like that, aye? :)

social status
so i'm flipping through tv stations and find there is a movement in florida to create county level council on the social status of black men and boys meeting in the office of the attorney general in orlando, florida... have we made any real mind-set or perspective progress since the civil war in the south?...
a group who's mission is to look for and point fingers, look for weaknesses, and shout unfair for black men and boys?... is this legitimate affirmative action (affirm is a positive term, right?) or is it a veiled way of castrating men and boys in and of itself?... is the perspective to pity and organize people to help black men and boys because they can't effectively take care of themselves?...
people are so tied up in social status, so in love with the victim mindset, so kind to similarities and opportunities to bridges gaps and come together, so comfortable with segregation and pity parties and pointing fingers... so what we've got is a group of mostly very overweight people trying to find money (and justification to get the money) from government (taxes) to get some excitement going to organize local groups with a purpose of studying the social status of black men and boys...
the chairperson of this council is the Director, Office of Supplier Diversity, Department of management Services... is this bureacracy gone made or a real need seeking a real solution for a real problem?... perhaps the underlying source of the concerns is the very attitude that black men and boys need local government groups to promote their social status, inherently setting black men and boys apart as inferior and "needing help" based solely on race and gender...
not racism?...
i wish people would stop judging people based soley on race or gender... but that is the culture we live in and the people in power support it because it keeps the majority of people in divided social groups feeling needy with a hand out for help instead of empowered and united as human beings...
sigh...
a group who's mission is to look for and point fingers, look for weaknesses, and shout unfair for black men and boys?... is this legitimate affirmative action (affirm is a positive term, right?) or is it a veiled way of castrating men and boys in and of itself?... is the perspective to pity and organize people to help black men and boys because they can't effectively take care of themselves?...
people are so tied up in social status, so in love with the victim mindset, so kind to similarities and opportunities to bridges gaps and come together, so comfortable with segregation and pity parties and pointing fingers... so what we've got is a group of mostly very overweight people trying to find money (and justification to get the money) from government (taxes) to get some excitement going to organize local groups with a purpose of studying the social status of black men and boys...

death, human view
fear of death has long plagued the human psyche, diminishing potential of even the most powerful human minds and along with other fears, may be the root cause for all that ails the human from war to disease to depression to divorce to whatever ails you... excuse me if i laugh at the serious morbidity of the human perspective, but it is how i see it when i am not sad for the limits people place on their own minds, imagination, perception, and understanding... anything is possible, so it is possible that all human fears are valid and all the worst nightmares told by boogiemen and religions and scientists and soothsayers may come true someday and i say, so what... why let any of it interfere with the experience of this moment in it's full potential?... no reason that makes sense to me not to, so i hope you do... if you don't want to (or believe you can't) overcome your fears and want to further the discussion of death and possible futures, here's biocentrism, which looks a lot like egocentrism to me, but then, i am not considered one of the leading scientists in the world... narf...
